An about 14,200-square-meter square came into use on the right bank of Jinji Lake in SIP on Sept 28. Concurrently, the sculpture named “Flying” was unveiled.
The square, themed “art”, is designed to highlight the cultural characteristics of Suzhou and serve as a high-quality leisure space for local residents and tourists.
The 20-meter-high sculpture “Flying”, created by famous sculptor Tang Yong and his team, features a pair of wings with feathers formed by the staggered arrangement of tiles like those on the traditional buildings in Suzhou. It looks like two birds flying high shoulder to shoulder, symbolizing the bright future of win-win cooperation between China and Singapore.
A jazz concert was held, and a fair integrating diverse forms of art opened. It is reported that over 30 art and cultural events are scheduled over the next 10 days.
