Statistics show that SIP’s major scenic spots and resorts received about 1.9 million tourists during the Spring Festival holiday that lasted from Jan 28 to Feb 4, and the operating income of major tourist product and service suppliers reached RMB372 million.
Subsidies and coupons were distributed through a number of online platforms including the “Travel in SIP” WeChat mini program, TikTok and Meituan for consumers to enjoy favorable prices when making payment at scenic spots, hotels, restaurants and stores in SIP. This has allowed consumption across the whole tourism chain in the area to increase by RMB50 million.
To celebrate the Chinese Spring Festival’s inscription on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, SIP organized 44 events including performances, exhibitions and fairs to spread traditional culture related to the Spring Festival, showcase various intangible cultural heritage elements and enrich tourists’ experiences. For example, there were lion and dragon dances at Suzhou Center Mall and other commercial complexes, fairs with ancient-style balms, embroidery works, fans and other products, and light and firework shows at HB World. Besides, a variety of art exhibitions were held across SIP.
Free water bus service was available at Jinji Lake till ten o’clock every night, and the Jinji Lake Music Fountain staged amazing audio-visual shows every day. The hotels in SIP also hosted various events such as Spring Festival fairs and traditional performances. Moreover, over 10 hotels in SIP provided the special service to help their guests deliver their luggage to airports and subway stations.
SIP authorities provided full support for the events and enhanced supervision over safety management at related venues to ensure local residents and tourists could enjoy a happy festival.
